Old School Free Range Eggs

We say "old-school" because...

The words "free-range" used to mean something.  With so many regulatory loopholes today, it is perfectly legal to pack 50,000 hens in a barn with a few doors open on the sides -- and call it "free-range".  Worse yet, the same operation can fence off an area around the barn and legally call it "pasture-raised."   

Our Response to Avian Flu

     Avian flu is having devastating effects on eggs production across the nation.  We are taking this seriously, and have implemented steps to boost our flock’s natural immunity.  Twice weekly, we feed them whole, raw milk mixed with a probiotic.  We have increased our use of organic kelp and alfalfa to help them with digestion and also provide valuable phytonutrients.  They have free choice access to biochar, which is a high-carbon supplement helping them to remove toxins.  

    We can confidently say that the hens are in peak health. The icing on the cake?  The resulting eggs are spectacular. This has come at a significant cost, which has added approximately $1.00 per dozen.  We have not arbitrarily raised prices. We have taken dramatic, costly steps to ensure we continue to supply the finest nutrition anywhere.  Doing it cheaper would mean taking risks with animal welfare ---  something we have vowed to never do.
