A Love Letter to Red Meat

November 4, 2023

When my husband and I first moved in together, I was making most of our meals. At the time, I was the more experienced cook, so I naturally began making our dinners. However, my husband learned VERY quickly that I have one meal that I could eat every day of the week (and never get sick of it!)...

Steak and salad.

Every other meal was some variation of a steak (sirloin tenderloins are my favorite) and a bowl of mixed leafy greens.

Turns out, my constant craving for a steak is rooted in a very healthy needs. As I've been diving deeper into the science of food, I realized women require a great deal of the vitamins and nutrients our farm's steaks have to offer:

  1. Highly Bioavailable Iron - This helps prevent anemia, supports energy levels, and aids the body in oxygen delivery
  2. Cholesterol and Saturated Fats - These are the basis of certain hormones and supports estrogen and progesterone production, as well as boosting fertility and reproductive health
  3. Amino acids - Preserves lean muscle and aids in muscle development, as well as supporting bone density and workout recovery
  4. Zinc - Huge building block in ovulation and egg quality, immune function, and skin healing
  5. B12 - This is why I feel so energized after eating a good steak. Vitamin B12 helps with energy production, red blood cell formation, and mood/mental clarity

Not to mention, I'm never still hungry after eating red meat. Needless to say, ladies, we often under-eat red meat. So let this be your sign to go with your gut and eat that steak and salad!
