Cinnamon Raisin Sourdough French Toast

Joe's homemade sourdough takes french toast to a whole new level. No joke, I will never make french toast with white bread ever again.
Today was a slow, dreary day on the farm, and we didn't have a big to-do list. Instead of our usual 10 hour work day (which feels like a vacation compared to our 16 hour work days during the summer), we took the day to focus on other areas. I headed to The Caboose to grab some of Joe's Cinnamon Raisin Sourdough Bread. It's by no means my go-to bread--I don't like raisins all that much-- but I figured it might make good french toast. And boy was I right! 😋 To make this recipe, I had all of my spices and sugar in stock, but I needed to stop in The Caboose for these ingredients:
1 loaf Sourdough Joe's Cinnamon Raisin Bread 🥖 1 carton of For REAL free-range eggs 🥚 A jar Ohio maple syrup🍯 1 half gallon A2 milk 🥛

- Cut sourdough bread into thick slices
- Whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg, and vanilla extract in a shallow pan
- Soak each slice of bread in mixture. I like to give it a press, then flip to the other side so it fully absorbs
- Heat cast iron skillet and add butter. I like my toast to swim in butter, but it just needs to be enough to keep the bread from sticking to the pan
- Flip when golden brown
- Serve with maple syrup
